Huh? Why in English you must think?! Yes, from now on, i’m gonna write my posts in English! By doing this, everybody gets the chance to read my posts. As some of you might know that i live in Frankfurt Germany….Since we live here, we became friends with different people from around the globe. Now, they also can read my posts. The Dutchies already ‘know’ English, so why not? Besides, I also can ‘work’ on my English 😀 .
Short days but so much to do
Since autumn is here to stay for a while, i found out i suddenly have so little time to fulfil my regular ‘to do list’ for a day. For example, when i get Ophelia from school and we arrive home it already becomes a bit dark. It’s a race against time…we moms usually lose which is not fair. Moms are usually the ones who keep it together in a household. We became mother, nanny, cook, coach, teacher, wife and superwoman? Raise your hand if you agree! I always have this need to accomplish a number of things during a 24-hour period. Like i said, short days…but so much to do!
I everyday need to complete them off my list in order to free up time for the things i want to do. It’s been soooo long ago that i’ve been to a beauty salon or have my hair done. Or how about drinking ‘warm’ coffee in a relaxing environment? Wow, with Aiden around that became a real luxury thing…that cup of coffee! Or checking e-mail while waiting for Ophelia to show up at the dinner table. Well, with Aiden still being this small, i think that cup of coffee, hairdresser, beautysalon etc. have to wait i’m afraid.
Getting out the door in the morning
These days, that’s my husbands task. I’m not good at this things in the morning…haha. Getting out the door in the morning without Ophelia in tears is the only thing he has to achieve before 7:50 a.m. We parents really have to get rid of this morning stress! We have to stop trying to organize everything! Our only goals should be to leave the house looking good and without our 4 year old sobbing because she hates getting dressed in the morning. If that means we put her to bed in her school clothes to avoid a 7 a.m. tantrum, I think my husband is a genius!
Enjoy the coming season without stress
With all of this above, the holidays are soon around the corner. December is actually the only month with the shortest days…so be prepared. How you are gonna accomplish everything? Good question! Maybe this tips can help you through the season:
– seek a perspective; take one task that drives you crazy and work on it in a different way. A fresh approach just might make a difference. For example split the loads of work of sending postcards…
– be satisfied with ‘good enough’; don’t always want things bigger and better.
– throw away your shopping list; make memories instead of buying loads of presents for everyone. A fancy lunch with your loved ones will do.
– focus on what’s most important; if you’re overwhelmed with dozens of cards to send out, ask yourself, “which are the 10 (or less) most important ones?” Send those or just send an e-card to everyone on your list. It’s eco-friendly! Definitely win-win!
–take a break; during the busy holiday season, you always find yourself in the state of mind that you need to do something in order to make somebody ales happy! Of course that’s really kind and lovely, but don’t forget to have ‘us-time’. Go outdoors for a refreshing change of scene. Bundle up and take a walk to the woods or take a starlit nighttime stroll through your neighborhood to view the holiday lights.
These are the most 5 important tips to avoid stressful moments. I hope you can enjoy all those precious moments with your loved ones! With or without a christmas tree… 😀
How do you get prepared for the busy holidays without being all stressed out?
